Seven Abbey Students Named to Independent All-State Team

Congratulations to the following students, who have been named to the Spring 2015 Independent School All-State Team by the Providence Journal:




Max Bogan '16, Girls' Track/Javelin; Norman, OK

- Won the New England Division 3 Javelin Championship in 2014 & 2015. Her throw of 104-11 this year was a Portsmouth Abbey School record.

- Won the Odell Invitational (SENE and EIL) Javelin title in 2014 & 2015 with a throw of 100-7 (2015)




Bailey Carter '15, Sailing; Winter Park, FL

- 2015 Co-Captain, Sailing; 4-year letter winner

- Led Portsmouth Abbey to 4th place in the New England Women's Championship

- Team finished 14-2

- 2nd in New England, Team Racing

- 7th in nation, Team Racing

- Will attend and sail for Hobart & William Smith College




Teddy Fenton '16, Boys' Lacrosse/Attack; Woonsocket, RI

- Captain-elect for 2016; 3-year letter winner

- Selected All-League (EIL) in 2013, 2014, 2015

- Leading scorer for 2015 EIL Champions (7-0; 12-5 overall) with 80 pts. (37 goals, 43 assists)

- All-time Portsmouth Abbey point leader with 235 pts: Freshman 60; Sophomore 95; Junior 80

Broke the record of 199 points in 4 years set by Brenny Kinnane '07, (captain, Union College 2011)

- 3-sport athlete: football, basketball, lacrosse




Raimundo Riojas '17, Boys' Tennis/1st Singles; Guatemala

- Undefeated in the EIL at first singles (6-0)

- MVP of the EIL 2015

- Captain-elect for 2016

- Led Ravens to first-ever EIL Tennis Championship in 2015




Andrew Sheerin '15, Sailing; Newport, RI

- 2015, Co-Captain, Sailing

- Led Ravens to 14-2 record

- Team placed 2nd in New England, Team Racing

- Team placed 7th in nation, Team Racing

- Will attend and sail for George Washington University




Maddie Villareal '16, Girls' Lacrosse/Attack; Portsmouth, RI

- Led the Ravens to a second-place finish in the EIL

- Selected All-League (EIL) in 2013, 2014, 2015

- Selected to play in the NEPSWLA All-Star game in 2013, 2014, 2015

- Leading scorer in 2015 with 52 goals and 10 assists




Ben Wilson '15, Boys' Lacrosse/Defense; Little Compton, RI

- 2015 Captain, Lacrosse; 3-year letter winner

- All-League Lacrosse (EIL) in 2014, 2015

- US Lacrosse Academic All-American, 2015

- Top defender for 2015 EIL Champions (7-0; 12-5 overall)

- Captain of Football 2014, Pro-Jo All-Star

- Will attend McGill University
