Welcome to
Portsmouth
Abbey
School's Web site. I am excited that you have chosen to include
Portsmouth in your school search. Our admissions page has been created to help you understand the admissions process. As you navigate through our site, I hope you learn about Portsmouth Abbey and our unique school and community.
We read hundreds of applications a year and each one is reviewed by our Admissions Committee. As we work with a candidate and family, we begin to learn not only about the student's interests and accomplishments but also their aspirations. The student who thrives at
Portsmouth is one who is motivated, curious, and eager to live among peers who have different talents, interests, and cultures, and who wants to be part of a community. The Benedictine tradition, to which the School was founded, believes that the cultivation of the mind, spirit and body achieves its formation in a community setting. The goal of a Portsmouth Abbey education is to teach the virtues of Reverence, Respect and Responsibility while living in this shared community. And to this, we carefully select students that we feel are a good fit for the Abbey's learning experience.
Details about the application process, SSAT test dates, and our travels are some of the areas of the Web site that might assist you as you begin this process. The information provided and the help of the admissions staff are here to facilitate you in navigating through this journey. If there is a question that cannot be answered through our site, please contact us directly.
On behalf of the admissions office, I invite you to visit our campus and meet the special people who live and work here. You will feel the warmth of our students, see the dedication of our faculty, and begin to understand the value of the monastic community. A campus visit allows you the chance to gather information about the School, learn about yourself, and begin to discern if Portsmouth Abbey is the school for you.
I look forward to meeting you and personally introducing you to
Portsmouth
Abbey
School.
Best wishes,

Meghan M. Fonts
Director of Admissions
