Headmaster's Run 2017

On Monday, November 13, 2017, the 17th Annual Headmaster's Run took place on the grounds of Portsmouth Abbey School. Despite the wet and dreary weather, all Houses had a strong showing in the race.

The event marked the beginning of the Raven Cup competition. The Raven Cup, a school-wide contest amongst Houses, consists of several events throughout the year. Houses are scored based on competition, house spirit, sportsmanship, and participation.

Congratulations to the first runners in each category!

  • First male student: Davey Appleton '20 (10 min. 6 sec.)
  • First female student: Margot Appleton '21 (10 min. 39 sec.)
  • First male faculty member: Mr. St. Thomas (10 min. 17 sec.)
  • First female faculty member: Ms. Gundy (15 min. 8 sec.)
  • First faculty child: Keegan McCarthy (NT)

The top seven male student runners (Davey Appleton '20, Andrew Aubee '18, Harrison Connelly '20, Dan Rodden '18, James Brower '19, David Sun '19, and Jacob Tivey '19) contributed additional points for their houses, St. Martin's and St. Leonard's.

The top seven female student runners (Margot Appleton '21, Abbey Luth '18, Diane McDonough '19, Avery Korzeniowski '21, Izzy Zangari '20, Alessandra Alves '19, And Emma Humphrey '21) contributed additional points for each of the girls' dorms.

The current Raven Cup standings are as follows:

St. Mary's: 13 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 3 runners in the top 7 girls= 21 points

Manor House: 15 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 1 runner in the top 7 girls= 21 points

St. Benet's: 14 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 2 runners in the top 7 girls= 21 points

St. Martin's: 11 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 4 runners in the top 7 boys= 20 points

St. Brigid's: 12 participation points+ 5 spirit points + 1 runner in the top 7 girls= 17 points

St. Leonard's: 9 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 3 runners in the top 7 boys= 17 points

St. Hugh's: 12 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 0 runners in the top 7 boys= 17 points

St. Aelred's: 5 participation points+ 5 spirit points+ 0 runners in the top 7 boys= 10 points
