PORTSMOUTH ABBEY
SUMMER PROGRAM 2018

Save the Dates:

Sunday, June 24 – Saturday, July 21

Your child will love our Portsmouth Abbey’s summer program on our stunning campus on the shores of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. He or she will experience a transformational and intentionally-designed program, geared toward rising 7th-, 8th-, and 9th-graders.

The daily schedule strikes a thoughtful balance between enrichment and recreation and is rooted in our Benedictine foundation. Your child will delight in making friends from all over the world.

Classes are taught by Portsmouth Abbey teachers.

Sample courses: Creative Writing, Latin Workshop, Pre-Algebra and Algebra, Robotics, Apologetics, Photography, Public Speaking, Literature, ESL, and Mad Science-lab Challenge.

The day: daily assembly and tutorial at 8:15 a.m., classes from 9 a.m. - 12 noon, lunch and siesta, afternoon activities until 5 p.m., dinner, evening recreation, and study hall at 7:30 p.m. for our boarders. Rounding out the experiential program are weekend trips around New England, including Mount Monadnock, Martha’s Vineyard, Six Flags, and the Newport beaches.

From our students:
"This was a college-like experience: independence with friends."

"The best part was being with my friends all the time and having great classes. I’ve had an amazing experience!"

"I wouldn’t change anything because it is so fun! Except maybe make it longer!"

From our parents:
"Our son thoroughly enjoyed the Portsmouth Abbey Summer Program. He learned a great deal about English Composition, Algebra 1, and 3D printing. Most importantly, he learned a great deal about himself."

"We are 100% pleased with our son’s experience at the Abbey. So glad we sent him!"

"My child's friends pretty much did nothing on their summer break and are envious. Parental peers of mine actively are seeking information about the Portsmouth Abbey Summer Program."

"My daughter's experience was much more than either of us expected. Having such a diverse group of students allowed her to learn about other cultures on such a personal level."
