The Portsmouth Abbey School remains committed to its mission of helping young men and women grow in knowledge and grace. The foresight and generosity of those who have gone before us make it possible to do so while maintaining a level of tuition affordability.
Three types of giving provide the foundation for the school's ability to manage its budget in the short term and plan for the future. The ANNUAL FUND provides unrestricted support for current operations. Total support from the Annual Fund amounts to approximately 7% of the School's annual operating budget. Planned gifts creatively enable donors to make gifts that are larger than they imagined possible, often in the future. These can be focused on current operations or long-term purposes. Finally, CAPITAL GIFTS, generally to the physical plant or endowment, provide the opportunity to look to our future and provide the funding required to nurture programs, sustain people, and steward the campus over the long term.
Ending on June 30, 2013, the Growing in Knowledge and Grace campaign raised over $47 million for general operations and projects outlined in the schools 2003 Strategic Plan. The investments this campaign enabled have fundamentally transformed our physical plant, educational resources, and financial positioning -especially our ability to sustainably offer financial aid to more than 1/3 of our student body. While we are thrilled with these accomplishments, there is more work to do. We are currently in the process of creating a new Strategic Plan which leverages these new resources and our current assets while reflecting on the vast changes that have taken place in the world since 2003.
The development team of Director of Development & Alumni Affairs Matt Walter and Senior Development Officer Andrew Rose welcome the chance to discuss our current position and the special investment opportunities that exist at Portsmouth Abbey today while receiving your input on plans for the future.
