Two Top-Flight Squash Camps Announced for Summer 2008
In summer 2008, two separate and highly reputable squash camps are returning to campus, offering both boarding and day camp options for up-and-coming squash players.
Talbott Squash Academy (TSA)
When: July 12-18; July 19-25, 2008
Boarding Camp for: Boys and Girls ages 12-15
Camp Fees: $1,300 per session (includes tuition, room, board and local transport)
Academy Director and Head Coach: Mark Talbott
The Talbott Squash Academy (TSA) -- This nationally known boarding squash camp for boys and girls ages 12- to-15 will attract junior players from all over the country who wish to learn from the best and compete with other players at a high level. The camp is run by squash legend Mark Talbott, the top-ranked professional squash player in the world for 12 years in the 1980s and 1990s. TSA is the Official National Training Center of the U.S. Squash Racquets Association and is considered the top junior training center in the world. Portsmouth Abbey School Junior Squash Camp
When: July 7-11, 2008
For: Boys and Girls ages 10-15
Day Camp Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (lunch provided)
Camp Fees: $475.00 per week (Full payment due by June 15th to ensure enrollment.)
The Portsmouth Abbey Squash Camp, in its third year, is for boys and girls 10-to-15 years of age who are seeking a fun day camp environment in which to build a solid foundation in squash skills. The camp targets the development and promotion of youth squash in the greater Providence and East Bay (RI) area. Michael Riley will again be heading up the 2008 camp. Mike's relaxed attitude coupled with his extensive technical knowledge gives players an opportunity to learn from the best while being in a fun atmosphere. David Cukierman and Guillermo Moronta will join Mike to add more top expertise to this program. The elite caliber of coach and low player-to-coach ratio continues to make this one of the best teaching camps for 2008.
The Portsmouth Abbey Squash Camp will be coached by:
Mike Riley - Squash Pro Mike Riley has been one of the top-ranked players in his age grop for more than 16 years. He is currently the Head Squash Professional at Rhode Island Country Club and a World Squash Federation World Referee. Mike has coached at numerous camps and clinics, including the prestigious Talbott Squash Academy.
David Cukierman - Currently David is the Head Squash Pro at the New York Sports Clubs in Stamford, CT. Previously David was the assistant squash pro at Merion Cricket Club in Philadelphia and Head Squash Coach at Wesleyan University. Prior to coming to the United States, he played and coached professionally in Australia and Europe. David currently has a Level 3 coaching qualification.
Guillermo Moronta - Guillermo is a Math and Spanish teacher at Portsmouth Abbey School as well as Head Boys' Squash Coach. Guillermo started his squash career with Squash Busters and moved on to Tabor Academy and then to the Bates College men's team.
