Select Department:

Creative Writing

The Writer-in-Residence teaches this course on the craft of writing. Students read and write poetry and short fiction, as well as creative non-fiction and drama. Students read a wide range of contemporary and traditional authors and poets in order to learn the writer's craft. Using the workshop format, the course includes a variety of in-class writing exercises to stimulate student writing. Particular emphasis is placed on editing and revision. Students are encouraged to submit their writings for publication in the School's literary magazine, The Raven, or in other interscholastic publications.
