Economics (Winter Term)
This award-winning course is designed to give the student a basic understanding of macroeconomics. An historical approach is employed to introduce the student to the thought of the great economists of the past two hundred years. Special emphasis is placed on the American economic system with in-depth study of such topics as the stock and bond market, the Federal Reserve System and the use and influence of large corporate structures. Contemporary economic problems such as inflation, recession, and international trade are also explored. The students are required to use a problem solving approach to issues such as the economics of the environment.
