Select Department:

The Irish History Seminar

This elective explores advanced readings on Irish language, music, work, village and city life, politics, war and religion. Emphasizing critical analysis and the development of sophisticated speech and writing, this college-style seminar delves into the finest scholarship in a select number of provocative subject areas and examines Ireland's unique historiographical controversies. Daily discussion, peer review of student writing, and one-on-one instructor critiques of finished essays prepare students for the intellectual and rhetorical challenges of the university classroom.
