Conceptual Physics

Conceptual physics introduces students to the basic topics which make physics the most fundamental of the sciences. These topics include mechanics, heat, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, and the atomic structure of matter. In addition to basic physical principles, the course examines some philosophical aspects of physics and interactions between physics and society. Conceptual Physics emphasizes frequent hands-on laboratory experiences and conceptual reasoning. Mathematical tools, particularly from algebra (which students may take concurrently), are introduced at an appropriate level to help students appreciate order in the physical universe.
