Newport Running Camp 2008
at
Portsmouth Abbey School
August 4-9
Lace up your running shoes and get ready - the 23rd year of Newport Running Camp (NRC) will be held once again at Portsmouth Abbey School!
Providing each student with direct training using "The Oregon System," the esteemed Camp will be taught by legendary Olympian and Hall of Fame coach Bill Dellinger, assisted by NRC Director and All-American Pete Squires; well-known coach Steve McChesney; two-time Olympian and American record holder Matt Centrowitz; Olympian Nick Rogers; Olympic Gold Medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson; and many other nationally acclaimed cross-country coaches.
This is a camp that is friendly to runners of all ages and experience. Campers will learn how to visualize and mentally develop a mindset for achieving outstanding performance within themselves and as part of a team. The program is designed to help improve running technique and speed as well as overall fitness.
Portsmouth Abbey's first-rate running facilities offer multiple fields on which to train as well as a six-lane track, state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis courts, two gymnasiums, and a stunning 500-acre campus along the shores of Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay.
NRC program participants will be housed in the School's dormitories with three meals a day prepared on site. The daily schedule will be structured to take full advantage of coaching and staff expertise. There will also be ample "down time" for recreational and evening leisure activities.
Tuition for the 2008 NRC, prior to June 1, 2008, is $595.00. After June 1, tuition will be $625.00. Scholarships are available, and arrangements will gladly be made for coaches and their teams to attend together.
Space is limited to 150 campers, and fills quickly every year, so sign up today!
