The Portsmouth Abbey Boys' Varsity Hockey Team had its best season in over a decade, finishing 13-8-2 during the 2006-07 season. Led by coaches Derek Gittus and Bowen Smith, as well as Sixth Form skaters Bryan Kriner, Rob Turner, Jonny Valcour, Jesse Estok, and Chris O'Reilly, the team finished second at the prestigious Brooks-Pingree Holiday Tournament, defeating tournament favorite Wyoming Seminary in pool play. The Ravens also defeated two top-ten teams and conference rivals Worcester Academy and Pingree School during the season and earned impressive ties against Division II power Vermont Academy and Division I BB&N.
Kriner made Portsmouth Abbey hockey history upon being voted 1st-Team All-New England for the 2006-07 season; he had been voted to the 2nd-Team squad as a Fifth Former. Bryan's parents Diana and Hockey Rink Supervisor Mitch Kriner were on hand, as well as the parents of the five other outgoing Sixth Form players to present flowers and have their photos taken with their sons.
