The Portsmouth Abbey Class of 2005 will hold the first annual Adam Towler '05 Memorial Road Race at School on Sunday, August 19, 2007, in honor and memory of their classmate, Adam R. Towler, whose life was tragically cut short in July 2006, one year after his graduation from Portsmouth.
The road race will raise funds for the Adam R. Towler '05 Memorial Book Fund, recently established by Adam's parents. The Book Fund will support the purchase of books in the areas of geography and poetry, two of Adam's passions. Adam was the recipient of the School's Poetry Prize upon graduation in 2005 and was a two-time winner of the Wyoming State National Geography Bee. He was pursuing international studies and was to attend the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in the Fall of 2006 with the hope of becoming a foreign diplomat.
While at Portsmouth, Adam was a valued member of the cross-country and track teams. His classmates thought a road race would be a fitting way to honor and remember Adam.
The entire Portsmouth Abbey School community is warmly invited to attend and participate in the Adam Towler Memorial Road Race as well as the barbecue that will follow the conclusion of the race.
If you plan to attend the barbecue, please inform us as soon as possible by emailing: rsvp@portsmouthabbey.org with your number of attendees.
Click here to register for the road race. The suggested donation to enter the race is $25.00.
Registration begins at 4:30 pm. The race will begin at 5:00 pm on the School track, and the barbecue will follow at 6:30 pm.
The Class of 2005 encourages Portsmouth Abbey alums, students, families and friends to come run, walk or just socialize with alumni -- all in memory of Adam. Thank you!!
