The Girls' Varsity Basketball team clinched the EIL Championships on Feb. 13 with a win over Newton Country Day, 62-29, bringing their league record to 12-1. Since the second-place team had 4 losses and the Ravens had, at that time, only 2 regular season games remaining, the win over Newton assured them of the Championship.
The Ravens played their final home game of the season on Friday, Feb. 15, and recognized the contributions and achievements of the five Sixth Formers on the team: KK Behan, Steph Perez, Jai Crawl, Madison Nunes and Katie Hughes. The game belonged to the Ravens as they defeated Berwick, 67-22. For the first time this season, each Abbey player scored. KK Behan, in her final home game, scored 11 points, dished out 8 assists, and grabbed 4 steals. Jai Crawl was the game's leading scorer with 15 points; she also had 6 rebounds. Kathleen Timmons recorded another double-double; she scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, in addition to 4 blocked shots. Abby Shea chipped in 7 points and Kaitlin Gladney scored 6.
With one regular season game remaining, at Winsor on Wed., Feb. 20, the Ravens' current overall record stands at 15-4, 13-1 in League play. They will compete this coming weekend at the EIL Tournament, being held at Dana Hall.
Congratulations to the Girls' Varsity Basketball team and Coaches Benestad and Platt! Go Ravens!
