The March 2008 issue of the New England Lacrosse Journal has recognized Portsmouth Abbey Sixth Former Stephanie Perez as a "player to watch" for this season. Stephanie was an Honorable Mention High School All-American in 2007 and has been named a Rhode Island All-State player for three straight years. She was also an All-State field hockey player and an Honorable Mention EIL All-League player in basketball this winter. Stephanie is headed to Tufts University in the fall where she plans to participate in field hockey and lacrosse.
Abbey Varsity Girls' Lacrosse Coach Ms. Mindy Urick said of Stephanie: "Steph is entering the spring of her Sixth Form year as a four-time, tri-varsity letter winner and co-captain of the Varsity Girls' Lacrosse team. Over the past four years, Steph has demonstrated great focus and intensity; she brings a fierce competitive drive and determination to the lacrosse field and leads the team by positive example. She will be a key component in the success of our team this year, and I expect her to be an All-American candidate this season."
The Ravens' Girls' Lacrosse team is looking forward to a strong start in its inaugural year of competition in the Eastern Independent League (EIL). The 2007 team record was 12-4-2.
Congrats, Steph!
