Portsmouth's Dining Services Company, Sodexo Campus Services, is hold a food drive today, November 12, at school in an effort to help feed thousands of hungry Americans. Called Cans Across America, the Portsmouth Abbey Dining Services team is joining hundreds of other Sodexo teams in locations across the country to help provide much-needed nutritious food to some of the estimated 35 million Americans - nearly 13 million of whom are children - who are at risk of hunger. In doing so, Sodexo also hopes to set a Guinness World record for the "Largest Food Drive by a Non-Charitable Organization in a 24-Hour Period (multiple locations)." The company's minimum goal is to collect nearly 397,000 pounds of canned and non-perishable food as part of a nationwide "STOP Hunger" initiative.
Portsmouth Abbey students, faculty, staff and families are invited to bring in a canned or non-perishable food item today, November 12, and drop it off at the collection basket in the Stillman Dining Hall lobby. Every donation, large or small, will be gratefully accepted.
Please join Sodexo in its mission to help feed Americans facing hunger, and help set a new Guinness World Record for collecting food for those in need!
