In keeping with Portsmouth's Mission Statement that calls for "respect for the shared experience of community life," the Ravens football team has decided to adopt a needy local family for the upcoming holiday season.
Funds raised through the sale of "Portsmouth Abbey School" decals and a dress-down day this Friday, November 14, will go toward food for the adopted family's Thanksgiving dinner and to purchase much-needed clothing and toys for the two young boys and their mother at Christmastime.
Ravens Head Football Coach Al Brown said, "Sponsoring a needy family during the holidays has been a positive learning experience for the players, and their commitment to the project has been strong. We appreciate any support the School family can give us."
Between now and Wednesday, November 19, each football team member will be selling "Portsmouth Abbey School" decals for $2.00 apiece. Monetary donations will be gratefully accepted; please contact Al Brown at abrown@portsmouthabbey.org for more information.
