Robert Rainwater to Lecture on Lowell Observatory, Dec. 9, 2004

The head of the Science Department, Robert Rainwater, will give a mini-Dom Luke Childs lecture on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 10:35 in the conference period, on his very recent visit to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. The Lowell Observatory is a private research institution founded in 1894.  It is the home of the Clark Telescope.He was welcomed there by William L. Putnam of the class of 1941, who, among other things is an accomplished mountain climber. His brother, classicist, Dr. Michael C.J. Putnam, class of 1950, is also a trustee of the world renowned observatory. He will give the talk in the SLH. View of the Lowell Observatory
