DEAN OF STUDIES

ACADEMIC YEAR 2009-2010

 

Dean of Studies:  This position reports to the Associate Headmaster.  The Dean of Studies, in general, works with the Associate Headmaster, Dean of Faculty and with support from the Registrar in the performance of those duties normally associated with an office of academic affairs in a competitive independent boarding school with a national and international student body.  The Dean of Studies will have a reduced teaching and coaching load which reflect the demands of the position.  In addition to the Registrar, the Study Skills Specialist also reports to the Dean of Studies. Specific duties include:

 

•     Member of the Headmaster's Council

•     Student academic progress including course changes

•     Chair of the Honors Committee

•     Coordinating Self-Studies of the academic departments

•     Overseeing yearly Curriculum Guide revisions

•     Supervising and promoting Form VI projects, Special Scholarships and Fellowships

 

•     With the Registrar:

o     Grades and Reports

o     Maintenance of the School's Course Schedule

o     Director of Testing

o     Special Schedules, scheduling term exams and other scheduling adjustments as needed
