Students Garner Awards in 2013 Rhode Island Scholastic Art Competition
January 15, 2013

Five Portsmouth Abbey School students were recognized in the 2013 Rhode Island Scholastic Art Competition.

A glazed ceramic vase crafted by Michael Brown '14 received the Gold Key Award in Ceramics. Michael's entry will now be submitted to the International Scholastic Art Awards that is held in New York City every year.

Maria Luisa Ruiz '13 and Min Jae (Steve) Cho '13 were awarded a Silver Key in Film and Animation for their production, "Tea Time," starring Maria Luisa Ruiz and our very own Betty Barreto from the kitchen staff. The film can be viewed on Youtube at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faUwnLgW804.

Mary Frances Kielb '13 received the Silver Key for her painting,
 "On The Edge."

Minqian (Lucy) Chen '14 was the recipient of a Silver Key
in painting for her work entitled "The Road."

Congratulations to these talented artists!

An exhibit of these and other works can be seen at the Salve Regina University Gallery at the Antone Academic Center from January 22-February 6, 2013.

Gallery hours are from Monday -Thursday 11:00-4:oo and Friday 11:00 to 1:00 and Sunday from 2:00 -4:00.
