League/Schedule
Portsmouth Abbey is a member of the Eastern Independent League (EIL). The EIL provides Portsmouth Abbey student-athletes the opportunity for rigorous competition with schools of similar size and athletic philosophy. EIL member schools include Bancroft School, Beaver Country Day, Berwick Academy, Concord Academy, Landmark School, Lexington Christian, and Pingree School. The team plays its home matches during the fall season at the Carnegie Abbey Club (http://www.carnegieabbeyclub.com), a renowned Scottish Links course that borders the School's campus. In 2010, the team finished the season as tri-champions in the EIL with a record of 11-3. Coach McCarthy was also selected as the EIL Coach of the Year.
Coaching Philosophy
The Portsmouth Abbey Golf program believes in providing a challenging and educational experience outside the classroom. Golfers are expected to strive to reach their very best academically, socially and athletically. The coaching staff believes in a smart brand of golf that honors the game with strong attention to fundamentals.
