Field Hockey - Varsity

League/Schedule
Portsmouth Abbey is a member of the Eastern Independent League (EIL). The EIL provides Portsmouth Abbey student-athletes the opportunity for rigorous competition with schools of similar size and athletic philosophy. EIL member schools include Bancroft School, Beaver Country Day, Berwick Academy, Concord Academy, Dana Hall School, Landmark School, Lexington Christian, Newton Country Day, Pingree School and Winsor School. We also compete against traditional rivals such as St. George's, Tabor, Southfield and Worcester Academy.
Coaching Philosophy
The Field Hockey program at Portsmouth Abbey School is designed to teach our student-athletes the building blocks for success on the field, as well as in life. Through hard work, determination, and extensive training and drills, the girls on the team develop an understanding of individual ball handling skills, overall team play, as well as an appreciation for the game of field hockey. In addition, we maintain a positive and supportive attitude on the field - whether at practice or games - and are demonstrating to our student athletes skills that will benefit them in all aspects of life.
At the start of the season the girls write out three goals they wish to achieve. As coaches, our goal is to make sure that each one of our athletes accomplishes the realistic goals they have set for themselves. We provide them with the tools to succeed, and then allow them the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
Contact
Portsmouth Abbey is looking for hard-working, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic student athletes who are looking to develop their skills in the classroom and on the field. For more information please fill out our Student-Athlete Questionnaire.
