On Thursday, May 8th, a dinner was held at the Carnegie Abbey Club to officially welcome the Class of 2008 into the Portsmouth Abbey School Alumni Community. Guest speaker Alexandra Hart '00 spoke eloquently of her time spent as a student at the Abbey and conveyed to all that "although they might not think so now" their journey back to the school, whenever that may be, will be like "coming home". She urged the students to get engaged and to give back to the school so that in turn, the school can continue to teach in the Benedictine tradtion.
Although the weather was on the chilly side, the hearts of the students were warm as they dined, presented this years yearbook dedication and laughed at the superlatives read by Pierce King '08 and Jonathan Samoroski '08. Four legacy familes including the Childs, Kennedys, Buckleys and Cunninghams were also in attendance. At the end of the evening students were presented with a gift of a custom tie for the boys and a custom bracelet for the girls from the Office of Alumni and Development. Congratulations to the Class of 2008.
