Conor Bohan lived in Haiti from 1996 to 2008. During some of that time he worked as a volunteer teacher where he realized that many top students were prohibited from reaching their potential because of their dire economic situation. When Conor's former student asked him if she could borrow $30 to go to secretarial school he knew something needed to be done. Since then Conor founded The Haitian Education & Leadership Program (HELP) that provides merit-based university scholarships in Haiti for top high school graduates who could never afford the tuition. In addition to founding and growing HELP, Conor worked as a volunteer teacher, Deputy Director of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) Haiti office and Director of the American Institutes for Research (AIR) Haiti programs. He has written and lectured extensively on Haitian culture and current events. Mr. Bohan is a graduate of Brown University and lives in Brooklyn NY.
