While Peter D. Fitzpatrick spent only two short years at Portsmouth Abbey ('83-'85) it didn't seem to deter him from doing great things. Peter was recently featured in The Maryland Daily Record newspaper for his work as the chairman of the newly reinstated Bar Association of Frederick County's revamped pro bono committee. The committee connects people unable to afford legal services to volunteer lawyer services in the Frederick County area.
Fitzpatrick, 39, moved to Frederick County when he was 3. He received his law degree in 1997 and worked in Montgomery County before deciding to return home in 2003 and start a private practice, handling primarily business and family law matters. His pro bono work is almost exclusively family law. He is a child advocate and his first pro bono case involved representing a father in a custody hearing that "turned out well for the child and the parents," he said.
