Field Hockey - Varsity VS Newton Country Day EIL Play Day at Pingree 11/8/08 (A) Results: 1-0 (Loss)
The Varsity Field Hockey team traveled to Pingree School on Saturday for the end-of-the-season Play Day Tournament. The Lady Ravens faced a talented Newton Country Day team in their first game of the day. The Raven defense proved to be very strong all game long stopping numerous shots on goal. The defensive unit consisting of Beneva Davies, Ana Lopez, Kathy Kim, and goaltender Tara Tischio, played with aggression and fierce determination. At half-time the game was still scoreless and the Abbey came out ready for an intense second half. Despite many opportunities to score, and intense play by forwards Catherine Stern, Georgia Callahan, Tiernan Barry, and Kelly Plageman, the Ravens were unable to find the back of the net. Newton scored late in the second half, and the Abbey girls could not come back from the deficit.
