2011 American Running Camp

Lace up your running shoes and get ready - the American Running Camp will be held this year on the scenic campus of Portsmouth Abbey School, just a short ride from historic Newport, Rhode Island.

WHAT: Campers will learn the "Oregon System" from Olympians and legendary coaches Bill Dellinger, Matt Centrowitz, Pat Tyson, Steve McChesney and Nick Rogers. The workouts will take place on soft grass, trails and a six-lane track.

WHY: To improve technique, speed, fitness, mental toughness and racing performance.

WHO: Open to all runners including students and adults.
High School and College Students - The camp is structured to prepare you for successful cross country and track seasons.
Adults - The adult sessions and social activities will motivate you, increase fitness and help you reach your running goals.

Located on the water, Portsmouth Abbey's cooler temperatures offer an ideal climate for summer training.  Portsmouth Abbey's first-rate running facilities offer multiple fields on which to train as well as a six-lane track, state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis courts, two gymnasiums, and a stunning 500-acre campus along the shores of Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay.
