Nick White '08 Signs with Georgetown
March 17, 2008

Portsmouth's Nick White '08 has signed a letter of intent to play football at Georgetown University beginning this fall.

White, a boarding student from Hull, Mass., has been the starting quarterback for the Ravens for the past three years as well as captain this past season.  He has garnered recognition as a 2005, 2006 and 2007 All-Evergreen League selection and was named All-New England and All-State (Rhode Island) in 2007.

"In addition to his proven ability as a quarterback, because of his size, strength and speed (6'4" 215 lbs.), college coaches recognized Nick's added potential to play at a number of other positions," said Abbey Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Al Brown. "Nick is also an excellent student.  As a result, the schools actively recruiting him included Harvard, Dartmouth and Army as well as many of the NESCAC schools.  Nick has been a great leader on and off the field and has been a big part of our winning record each of the last three years.  We are proud and pleased for him...he has earned this accomplishment."

"Georgetown has been my first choice from the beginning, and I'm thrilled that it all worked out," said Nick. "Coach Jim Miceli, Georgetown's offensive coordinator, came to visit me at the Abbey many times, and I also visited the school and went to summer camp.  Coach Miceli and Head Coach Kevin Kelly convinced me that they are building a new football program at Georgetown they hope will rival the success of many of the school's other NCAA Division I sports teams. But most importantly, Georgetown is one of the best universities in the world, and I am honored to have the opportunity to be a student-athlete at such a great school."

The Georgetown Hoyas football team competes in the Patriot League.
