The Portsmouth Abbey School Athletic Department encourages players and coaches to strive for excellence.  The following milestones from the 2010-2011 school year reflect the achievements of our student-athletes and coaches across each of the three seasons.

  • Boys' Golf finished the season as Tri-Champions in the Eastern Independent League (EIL) with an 11-3 record.

  • Boys' Golf Head Coach Shane McCarthy was awarded EIL Coach of the Year.

  • Kaitlin Patton '11 and Edward Kielb '11 garnered Cross Country All-New England Division III honors.

  • Brigid Behan '11 scored her 68th career goal and holds the career goal record in Girls' Soccer.

  • Dan Welch '11 was selected to represent Portsmouth Abbey in the East vs. West Prep School Soccer All-Star Game.

  • The Football team was selected as an Evergreen Football League Sportsmanship Award Recipient.

  • Nick Albertson '11 and Matt Brigham '12 were selected to the All-New England Football Team.

  • Chris Correia '11 (Golf), Dan Welch '11 (Soccer), Brigid Behan '11 (Soccer), Matt Brigham '12 (Football) and Nick Albertson '11 (Football) earned fall sport All-State honors.

  • Jasmin Amaral '11 was awarded the Girl's Basketball League MVP (EIL).

  • Liam O'Farrell '11 scored 1,042 points in 4 years on the Boys' Basketball team.

  • Jackie Wagner '12 broke the School swimming records in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Free.

  • Sean Buckley '12 broke the School swimming record in the 200 IM.

  • Boys' Swimming won the EIL Invitational.

  • Jasmin Amaral '11 (Basketball), Liam O'Farrell '11 (Basketball), Jackie Wagner '12 (Swimming) and Casey Brown '12 (Hockey) earned winter sport All-State honors.

  • Edward Kielb '11 was awarded the Boys' Tennis League MVP (EIL). 

  • Softball finished the season with a record of 10-3, its best record in over a decade.

  • Softball Head Coach Elliott Moffie was awarded EIL Coach of the Year.

  • Caitlin Villareal '12 scored her 175th career goal in Girls' Lacrosse (100 goals in the 2011 season), breaking the School scoring record, and was selected as an Academic All-American and High School Underclassmen All-American. 

  • Boys' Lacrosse finished the season with a 14-2 record and EIL Champions for the third time in four years.

  • Boys' Lacrosse Head Coach Al Brown was awarded EIL Coach of The Year.

  • Morgan Green '11 was selected as a US Lacrosse All-American.

  • Mitchell Green '11 was selected as a US Lacrosse Academic All-American.

  • Taryn Murphy '12 placed 6th in the New England Girls Golf 9-hole Tournament.

  • Lucas Adams '11 (Sailing), Morgan Green '11 (Lacrosse), Edward Kielb '11 (Tennis), Liam O'Farrell '11 (Baseball), Abby Shea '11 (Softball) and Caitlin Villareal '12 (Lacrosse) earned spring sport All-State honors.

  • Girls' Track and Field won the Odell Invitational Meet, placing 1st of 9 teams.

  • Twenty-eight Sixth Formers earned the Varsity Blanket Award for successfully competing in each of the three athletic seasons.
