Director of Summer Program

The Director of Summer Program is a senior-level, year-round administrative position that reports directly to the Headmaster and works closely with the Director of Admissions.  Included in the responsibilities of this position are:

•  Overseeing and developing all curricular and co-curricular programs.

•  Working with the Headmaster and Board of Regents in articulating the Mission and goals of the Program.

•  Setting of budgets and hiring of faculty.

•  Collaborating with the offices of Admissions and Communications on the marketing of the Summer Program, as well as the recruitment and enrollment of students.

•  Coordinating with the Admissions Office on travel, as needed, for the targeted promotion of the Program and the general promotion of the School to prospective families.

•  Serving as the "Headmaster" of this residential/day, co-ed program throughout its month-long (July) duration.  This includes the maintenance of an administrative structure for the effective operation of the Program.

Portsmouth Abbey School is recognized as the premier independent Catholic Benedictine boarding and day college preparatory school in the nation.  Its mission is to help young men and women grow in knowledge and grace, fostering reverence for God and the human person, respect for learning and order, and responsibility for community life.  Admission to the school is selective; it is fully enrolled with 350 boys and girls.  The campus is situated on the shores of Narragansett Bay, 15 minutes from Newport, RI.  The school is overseen by the monastic community belonging to the English Benedictine Congregation and is governed by a Board of Regents.
