At the 2013 Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival, held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Portsmouth Abbey School vocalists and musicians took home more awards than any school in any class of the competition! In the second, or mid-sized, school division, which featured most of the specialized performing arts academies, the Abbey took third place in the Vocal Ensemble category behind two music schools. Rosie Randolph '16, on acoustic bass, claimed third place in the Individual Musician category and Sophia Diodati '15 took second in the same category for her piano and vocal performance. Rasaanh Matra '13 was recognized by the judges as the top soloist in the Abbey performance for his electric guitar and vocal skills. Ravens Thrill Crowd in First Home Wrestling Match in 19 Years:

The Portsmouth Abbey School Wrestling Team hosted Lexington Christian Academy Friday, January 18, in its first home wrestling match of the season and the first wrestling match that has taken place at the Abbey in 19 years.

With an overflow crowd of students, parents and alumni cheering on the Ravens, the Abbey fared well, with three wrestlers - Nick Medley '13, Rasaanh Matra '13 and Ben Wilson '15 - pinning their opponents to win hard-fought matches. The Ravens came up short overall, 48-30, and are now 2-5 on the season, although, judging from the delighted spectators, the final outcome of Friday's match was secondary to the thrill of having wrestling back at the School.  Read the rest of the story: http://www.portsmouthabbey.org/page/5190/10517 /.
