Throughout the admissions process, we work closely with our candidates and their families to determine whether there is a good "fit" between the students and Portsmouth Abbey School. Candidates are accepted for Portsmouth Abbey School on the basis of their personal and academic qualifications and potential, without discrimination as to race, color, creed, or national/ethnic origin.  The recommendations of a student's teachers, school record, and test scores are all part of the evaluation in the admission process.  Each applicant is required to visit the campus (preferably in the fall or winter of the year prior to enrollment) to have a personal interview and to tour the School.  Portsmouth Abbey School normally accepts new students into the Third, Fourth and Fifth Forms. Occasionally, a well-qualified student will be accepted in the Sixth Form.

All candidates for the Third and Fourth Forms are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).  The SSAT, PSAT, or SAT is required for candidates for the Fifth and Sixth Forms.
