Athletic Volunteer Opportunities
A new component to the Parents' Association efforts focuses on lending support to Portsmouth Abbey coaches and athletic teams. Each season, the Parents' Association is looking for parent volunteers who are willing to support individual sports teams at home and away games. If your son or daughter is on any one of the 40 sports teams, this is an excellent way to get more involved in the Portsmouth Abbey community.
How can you help?? Whether a game is being held on campus or at another school, be a fan on the sidelines. The kids love it when there's someone to cheer them on (and don't forget to wear the school colors!) Find out about the next game by clicking on the Athletic Schedule here.
When attending games at the Abbey or at opposing schools, Portsmouth Abbey players, coaches and spectators are expected to uphold our tradition in sportsmanship. Click here for our Code of Conduct.
Provide a healthy post - game snack. Whether the game is home or away, our kids love something to munch on after a full afternoon athletic contest. Bring something simple to the on-campus athletic event or send something along with the team for the long bus ride home. Click here for a list of healthy snacks approved by our Dining Services and Infirmary Staff.
Be the point person by communicating with the team's coaches to find out if they have any special needs or plans throughout the season. Is there a special game scheduled during the season? Does the team need a carb-loading dinner the night before that big meet?
Help the coach plan the end of the season "break - up" dinner by enlisting other interested parents from the team to help with beverages, desserts or other items to help the coaches and team members celebrate their season!
