The extensive and varied musical talents of the School community were on full display at this year's Spring Concert, "Voices of Spring," presented by the Abbey Singers and Pro Deo Instrumental Ensemble and held Friday, May 2, in the Auditorium.
Pro Deo, conducted by Kunwoo Kim '08, played the music of John Williams as heard in the films Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Pirates of the Caribbean. The Abbey Singers, led by music teacher Brent Osner, performed several numbers, including "You Raise Me Up," "Build Me Up Buttercup," "All Things Bright and Beautiful," and "For Good," from the Broadway show Wicked.
Several soloists also delighted the audience with stellar performances. The multi-talented Kunwoo played "Etude 10-4 in C# minor," from Chopin, on the piano; "Presto," by Enesco, on the flute; and accompanied Caroline Mason '08 on the piano as she masterfully sang Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise." Alex Gallo '08 performed "Close Every Door," by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Tim McGuirk '11 sang "O bra maifu," from G.F. Handel. Faculty member Ms. Maureen Gassert wowed the audience with her solo, "Un Bel Di," from Puccini's Madame Butterfly. Dom Ambrose Wolverton accompanied both the Abbey Singers and Pro Deo on the piano.
