Form VI September 2022

Dear Sixth Form Parents:

As our children returned to Portsmouth Abbey from across the globe, it was amazing to see them bringing their energy and enthusiasm to the start of the school year. Of course, this year, their final year at the school is always accompanied by the anxiety of college admissions and how life will pull their friendships in many directions following graduation.

It is a year of mixed emotions. It is common for them to have self-assurance and confidence along with insecurity about the future. They will be spending hours focused on the next path in their education, while already being nostalgic about their years at Portsmouth Abbey. This is also a year when they are rightfully expected to provide the leadership to steer peers into making smart choices, helping each other in times of need, perpetuating a positive culture, and being good friends.

With fall sports, drama and music practice, or community service underway and their minds already engaged in their academics, we encourage you to ask your children about the house activities, their state of mind in this pivotal year, and what they are grateful for as they spend this last year of high school at a place as special as Portsmouth Abbey.

We look forward to meeting with you virtually at our fall term form meeting on October 6 at 7:00 PM and in person at Parents' Weekend at the end of October.  Until then, please reach out if you have any questions or ideas as we all journey through this final Abbey year with our children.
