House representatives for Clothe-A-Child
Portsmouth Abbey School's student-run annual fundraiser Clothe-A-Child wrapped up another successful season. Now in its 31st year, the effort began when Infirmary Nurse Pam Gorman recognized a need to donate winter coats and Christmas gifts to area families. Held during the busy two weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas break, students organized multiple events to raise money to buy winter clothing. The total for Clothe-A-Child this year was $4,355.33, with St. Hugh’s House again receiving the award for the highest funds raised per House. This was a tremendous effort by the students who displayed enthusiasm for all campus events and embraced the spirit of giving. Pam Gorman, although now retired, still purchased and delivered the winter clothing. Some examples of Clothe-A-Child 2021 fundraising activities included:
Manor House – homemade Christmas treat sales
St. Hugh's – movie night
St. Brigid’s - coffee, hot chocolate, and treat sale
St. Aelreds's – “skinny pancake” café (crepes)
St. Benet's – candy cane grams
St. Leonard's – personal donations
St. Martin's – personal donations
St. Mary's – bake sale
