Coach Gittus Coaches High School All-American Game at Dodger Stadium!

On July 15th, Head of the History Department and Head Varsity Boys’ Baseball Coach Derek Gittus left for Los Angeles to coach the High School All-American Game at Dodger Stadium! Derek was invited by Chuck Fox, Major League Baseball Director of Baseball Development to be the Bullpen Coach for the National League team. Eight of the ten members of the coaching staff were former MLB players including Dmitiri Young, two-time MLB all-star, and Reggie Willams, former MLB outfielder. Dodger Stadium is the 3rd-oldest stadium in MLB and Coach Gittus was able to get an insider look at the franchise's storied history. The halls are filled with lots of baseball artifacts including a Jackie Robinson Jersey. This opportunity was something Derek will not soon forget.

"This was a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience for a small New England prep school coach like me." Derek explained  "I was able to talk baseball with former big-league players I admire and be able to watch 17-year-old prodigies play the game at an otherworldly level.  And then to be able to do it all at a historic venue like Dodger Stadium was incredible.  I can't wait to get back on the baseball field with our players in the spring."
