The Abbey Drama Department is eager to begin work this September on Shakespeare’s iconic play, Hamlet. Students who are interested in either performing in the play or working on the stage crew (building the set and running the lights and sound) can come to the first rehearsal on the first day of school (all Forms are welcome!). The play rehearses at the same time as athletic practices. Actors will audition for the various roles, but all students will be accepted! No experience necessary. Most roles can be played by either gender! Students will learn physical and vocal techniques that will bring the text alive and create a meaningful theatrical experience. The stage crew will learn carpentry and develop artistic skills involving scenic design as well as hands-on training in lighting and sound systems. Please join us in this full-scale production, which will be presented to the school and local community in November.
