Portsmouth Abbey School is pleased to announce the Tony Award-winning, Matilda The Musical as its choice for the winter musical taking place February 17-19. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, November 29. 

A musical adaptation of the children’s novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda The Musical has become nearly as beloved as the book and the 1996 film starring Danny DeVito. The show has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill audiences of all ages around the world.

Matilda is an intelligent little girl with an astonishing wit and psychokinetic powers. Unloved by her cruel parents, she finds comfort from her loveable school teacher, Miss Honey. Despite impressing her teacher, Matilda’s school life is somewhat difficult to navigate due to a headmistress that hates children. Audiences will be delighted with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and the extraordinary cleverness of a girl who courageously takes on the feared Miss Trunchbull.
