Mind and Market Club Sets Lineup of Expert Speakers, Creates Investment Fund

The Mind and Market Club at Portsmouth Abbey continues to thrive, inviting speakers from various financial services backgrounds to share their expertise. In addition to a lineup of successful alumni and parents, the Club has begun a new venture: a $50,000 investment fund that will allow students to gain real experience with investing. Thanks to an anonymous donor, students are able to use real dollars in the market, with guidance from faculty advisor Mr. Elliott Moffie. The Club has partnered with brothers Tristan ’98 and John Jay ’01 Moulinge of Morgan Stanley for professional management of the fund.

The Club was founded by Ken Zheng ’20, Angus Auld ’20, and John Owen Habib ’20 with the purpose of learning about investing and the psychological aspect of portfolio management. Thus far, the Club has held several meetings with guest speakers discussing their experiences with money and business. One of these guests, Mr. Michael Perik P’20, filled the Regan Lecture Hall (RLH) and discussed lessons he learned from his successful business career.
