The Portsmouth Abbey Summer Program concluded another successful session in July. Ranging in age from 12 to 14, students experienced living and learning on the Abbey campus for three weeks and were fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of the new Science Building for all of their classes. Outside of class, students learned to sail, build robots, dye fabric, and explore the local marshes for crabs. They strutted their karaoke skills in the Student Center coffee houses and watched Fourth-of-July fireworks on Narragansett Bay. In addition to regular beach excursions, the group took a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard and closed out the month with a visit to Six Flags. Students this year were very academically driven, taking courses ranging from radio production and robotics to textile design; they received nothing but rave reviews from their teachers and houseparents!
