This spring, the Portsmouth Abbey School Botball robotics team competed virtually against other high school teams across the country. Out of 46 teams, the Abbey tied for fifth for their robotic design.
In 2021 the club was officially recognized as an afternoon activity, similar to joining a sports team or performing in a play. This change allowed the students to devote more time to collaborate and work on their designs. Xingyu (Carl) Ji '21, who is one of the founding members, is hopeful that the team will continue to grow over the years.
"Throughout the season, we always communicated with each other, and the collaboration went as smoothly as any team I’ve been a part of." Carl noted. "Most of the Fifth Formers on the team are very optimistic about doing even better in next year’s competition now that they are used to the schedule. Although I won’t be here, I really look forward to the excellent work that the next year’s team will do."
