What Does Art Sound Like?

Abbey  AP Art History students delved into the realm of abstract art recently and began the process with an interesting exercise. They studied Vasily Kandinsky’s Improvisation 28 and suggested songs that they felt matched the work itself.  Kandinsky often likened his work to “visual music,” so the exercise was a clever introduction to the complex concepts at the foundation of abstract art. In class, students listened to the songs and discussed which ones best fit the piece and why. A sample playlist is included; listen and see what you think!
