Favorite Abbey tradition? Broomball is a Raven Cup event that happens every winter in the hockey rink. I always look forward to it because it's so much fun and dorm spirit is always very high.
Favorite teacher? My favorite teacher at the Abbey is Mr. Gittus. I have gotten to know him very well because I had him both as a teacher, a coach, and a houseparent. He’s a great teacher with a passion for the material he teaches like no other. He taught my AP US History last year, and I can’t wait for RI History this year.
Favorite Abbey moment? When you wake up to other girls on your floor yelling 'snow day'!
Favorite Abbey tradition? My favorite Abbey tradition is Spring Fest. Campus is so beautiful in the springtime and all of the school is outdoors, having fun, eating Del's.
Favorite meal in the dining hall? My day instantly becomes better when I enter the Stillman Dining Hall and see General Tso's chicken and fried rice.
Favorite Abbey moment? Coming to the Abbey as a day student, I already had made local friends who were attending the school, but my favorite Abbey memory was meeting new people. The Abbey presents each student with numerous opportunities to connect with peers through sports, classes, dorms, lunch blocks etc., and I am very glad the school allowed me to form the friendships I have.
Favorite class? My favorite class at the Abbey is definitely my American Literature class because reading such intricate works from some of the best authors in the world and receiving in depth analysis and break down is such a unique opportunity. It is not only very eye opening but it is also critical for learning how to read and write at a professional level, and will help me for years to come.
Favorite Abbey tradition? All of the house competitions for the Raven Cup are my favorites. They are fun and exciting ways to bring the community and dorms together. It is a great way to promote school pride and allows everyone to come together and celebrate our shared community.
Favorite class? My favorite class wass chemistry because we did so many fun labs that made the class so much more interesting. My teacher also was able to explain everything so well, so I was able to understand everything.
Favorite meal in the dining hall? I love when they do breakfast for dinner! It is always a fun surprise and makes my day a lot better.
Favorite class/teacher? And why? Mr. Fisher. He challenged me to be a better student and a better person. He engaged with my ideas, allowing me to make an argument for myself. He showed me that learning also takes place outside of the classroom, and that you must be in a constant pursuit of learning.
Favorite meal in the dining hall? BBQ ribs from the dining hall are the best.
Favorite class? My favorite class at the Abbey (so far) has been AP Biology. In this class we didn’t use a textbook but rather viewed biology through the lens of real scientific studies. We also performed many labs which I love because they provide amazing hands on experience.
Favorite Abbey tradition? My favorite Abbey tradition is the International Student Dinner, which I have attended twice. Beyond the delicious food from around the world, this dinner is a time for genuine connection between people of all corners of the earth. I loved learning about different cultures and supporting my friends as they sang karaoke in their native languages.
Favorite Abbey moment My favorite moment at the Abbey was when I scored my first 3-pointer as a freshman on the Girls Varsity Basketball team. Seeing my big brother, who was a senior at the time, cheering for me was definitely a highlight and proud moment of the both of us.
Favorite meal in the dining hall? "PPP" aka Personal Pan Pizza!
