The 2024-2025 academic year was one for the record books for Raven student-athletes. The banners earned through their dedication, teamwork and perseverance will be on full display in Portsmouth Abbey athletic facilities as teams return to defend their championship status or make new entries in the record books this fall and into 2026.

The girls varsity soccer team qualified for the NEPSAC tournament in 2024-2025 and with seasoned players returning to the pitch, they hope to surpass their record to continue further into championship rounds. Their sisters on the court look forward to the same as the varsity volleyball team seeks a fourth-year return to tournament action. The Eastern Independent League and EIL Tournament Championship-winning boys varsity soccer team hopes to return to the NEPSAC Finals.

Raven wrestlers will look to defend their crown as the EIL Regular Season Champions. EIL Wrestler of the year, Dino De Marzio is entering his final year and is focused on increasing his overall performance. The boys varsity basketball team qualified for the NEPSAC tournament and the girls ' squash team earned the NEPSAC sportsmanship award. Both are accomplishments worth repeating. The boys squash team won the NEPSAC Class E Championship and again hopes they are going to surprise their foes with solid play.

On the ice, the girls varsity hockey team wants to continue their reign as EIL Regular Season Champions and also retain their EIL Tournament Championship status. The boys varsity team hopes to remain consistent enough to hoist the Holt Conference Championship trophy for the second time in School history.

 OptimizedImage,,,OptimizedAt the mound, pitcher and Boston Globe All Scholastic team member Mitch Canuel was named EIL Player of the Year. Look for some new talent to make a name for themselves in 2025-2026. Fans throughout Aquidneck Island will again be able to take in a game against St. George’s at Cardines Field in Newport, one of the oldest continually operating baseball fields in the world.

Not to be outdone, the varsity girls softball team again won the EIL Regular Season Championship and the EIL Tournament Championship. Wins they fully intend to keep in the forthcoming season.

The boys varsity track and field team won the EIL Championship for the second time in three years, hoping to seek a third, the team also hopes to reclaim its NEPSAC title and keep or surpass its new School and NEPSAC record in the 4x400 relay with the return of the spring season.
