Chris Milmoe, AD, announces the Winter Sports Awards (2024).

Below are Athletics Director Chris Milmoe's remarks from the Winter Sports Awards assembly:

My Top Ten Raven moments from the Winter!

10. The Storm of 2026! Last Tuesday, I was fighting through the snow to get into my office. I came across a snow bank that was too high for me to step over. So I leaned forward and did a barrel roll over the top. When I was at the bottom of the snow bank, I looked up and saw Mr. and Mrs. Hobbes with Griffin laughing at me. I am sure you all have stories of your adventures surviving the storm of ‘26 and you will be telling them to your friends and family for the rest of your lives.

9. Adelino’s email. As we returned from Christmas break, Adelino Vellis sent Mr. Bragan and me an email letting us know about his broken arm and the surgery to repair it. He said the injury would hold him back in January but that once it was fully healed, he would give 100% effort during the critical weeks of the show. You certainly did , Adellino, no matter what accidents were waiting to happen. Thank you and the entire cast of "The Drowsy Chaperone" for a brilliant performance.

8. The development of Tiger Gao on the boys varsity squash team. Not very often does a freshman make an impact on a varsity team but Tiger worked hard through the season and climbed the varsity ladder to become a contributor. Keep up the hard work , Tiger.

7. Boys JV Basketball triple overtime victory over LCA. This game was on the road , so I wasn’t able to watch firsthand but I was told that Charlie Winston turned into Kevin Durant to lead the team to victory with 30 points

6. Boys Varsity Basketball 74-71 victory over Wheeler School. The boys basketball team was plagued by the injury bug this year but they still rallied for a great team win over in state rival, Wheeler.

5. Bella Nguyen of the varsity wrestling team pinning her opponent from Chapel Hill Chauncey Hall. Thank you Bella for Daring To Be and taking a risk to join the wrestling team in your VI form year.

4. Boys Varsity Ice Hockey win over St. George’s during the holiday tournament. I got an up-close look for this one as I stood on the bench with Coach McKay and Coach Gittus. The team executed the game plan brilliantly, and Chase Pascoe couldn’t miss scoring three goals.

3. Girls Varsity Basketball overtime victory over Dana Hall. That win helped propel the team to the EIL tournament for the first time in 8 years. Coach Wood had the team playing together and believing they could achieve anything.

2. Girls Squash New England semifinal match vs. BBN. It isn’t often you see the aggressive side of Panya Zhu, Lily Servidea, Erica Kim, and Lucy Wang. But it came out when the pressure was on and the team played beautifully to win the match.

1. Girls Varsity Ice Hockey securing their fourth straight EIL championship and heading off to New Englands! The team had a dominant Winter after winning the Holiday tournament, and we wish them the best of luck in their game today against Cushing Academy.
